The Dreamers Wake Up: Jupiter in Aries (May 2022-May 2023)

by Karina Lafayette – May 12th 2022

In December 2010, the world was on the cusp of a complete reckoning. With Jupiter about to finish transiting Pisces and getting ready to enter Aries, came the emergence of protests in the Middle East, which eventually gave birth to the Arab Spring. From Tunisia, to Egypt, Bahrain to Syria, movements aimed at overthrowing dictators began to spread like wild fire. This later would set the tone for the Occupy Movement, the Maple Spring, and other protests all over the world. Even in my home city of Montreal, I came of age in the middle of student protests around the same time. The only problem is back then, a lot of us were young and naïve, which meant that whatever changes that were started, were only temporary. Some dictators were overthrown, only to be replaced by worse.

Today, we seem to be on the cusp of similar angst, between Roe v Wade at risk of being overturned in the U.S., and the Marcos Dynasty being re-elected in the Philippines. One may wonder how this could so easily happen, but it’s important to keep in mind that while Jupiter is in Pisces, the power of deception can be a strong one, because Jupiter isn’t only the planet of luck, it’s also the planet of expansion. Meanwhile, Pisces represents fantasy and spirituality. On one hand, it can dissolve borders and welcome others regardless of differences, but on the other, people can be easily fooled into something they don’t want to be a part of.

It’s a good thing you can’t fool Aries. It’s even better when you consider that the world we lived in twelve years ago isn’t the same as now. In the one we have now, anything really is possible.

The best part, the Marcos were overthrown in 1986, when Jupiter was once again Pisces, hinting at the fact that their re-election may be short lived. For those who don’t know, Bong Bong Marcos’ father was a dictator, known for implementing Martial Law, amongst other atrocities toward Filipinos. There’s a documentary about them, you can watch the trailer here.

The movie that comes to mind when I think about Jupiter’s transition from Pisces to Aries is Bertolucci’s ‘The Dreamers’. If you haven’t seen it yet, you may want to skip this paragraph, unless you’re okay with spoilers. The plot revolves around American exchange student Matthew, who’s staying in France at the height of the riots of ’68. He meets twins Theo and Isabelle, who may or may not be involved in an incestuous relationship (how Piscean). Together, they isolate in the twins’ apartment while the parents are away. They spend their days smoking, chatting about movies, arguing about politics, and together create their own piece of heaven on earth, far away from the realities of student protests. Matthew even gets involved with Isabelle, which puts a damper on her connection to her brother, since she’s never been close to anyone outside her family. For the next month, it seems like the rest of the world stops, but the three of them are forced to come back to reality sooner or later. At the end of the movie, a brick gets thrown at their apartment window, and the trio wake up to hundreds of students rioting outside. Deciding to join the protest, Theo puts together a Molotov cocktail against Matthew’s wishes. Theo pulls away from him, making it obvious that they’re on very different paths. Just as Matthew leaves, Theo throw the Molotov toward a line of police. The credits roll to “Je Ne Regrette Rien” (“I Regret Nothing”) by Edith Piaf, a symbolic moment that reminds the audience how beautiful fantasies can only last for so long.

In real life, 1968 was the last time that we saw Chiron in Aries and the North Node in Taurus like we have now, so it should be expected that a lot of themes from the late sixties are being highlighted this year, especially with Jupiter involved. And like I said, it’s not because history repeats itself, it’s because we don’t learn from it. Aside from the student riots in France, there was also Second Wave Feminism, the Anti-War Movement, not to mention the Stonewall Riots and Woodstock which both happened in 1969. So this could very well mean we’re at the start of another similar Anti-War Movement for Ukraine within the next year. And with Roe V Wade being under threat, this can even mean we’re heading into the next wave of Feminism.

Aries is where Jupiter becomes the warrior, determined to right a wrong at whatever cost. As the baby of the zodiac, this sign represents new beginnings, and while anytime a slow-moving planet changes sign it can be a big deal, in Aries, it’s effect is felt everywhere. Jupiter in Aries doesn’t want you to sit out on the sidelines and let others make choices for you. It wants you to live and fight, and claw your way to whatever your goal is. So even though to an extent, it may look like some areas of history are repeating themselves, it’s all really just happening to force us into taking the initiative. I saw a video on Tiktok from Queen Holocene, where she said how she wasn’t worried about Roe v Wade, because the women of today are much braver than we used to be. We have our voices now. The same with Marcos’ opposition in the Philippines, and the brave people currently fighting for their country in Ukraine. In the past, a lot of us would’ve been fine with defeat, but with Jupiter and Chiron both in the warrior sign of Aries, defeat isn’t an option. Add to the fact that Saturn has also been in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius since 2020, it’s obvious that we’re here to win.

During this Jupiter transit, expect people to find their voice. Expect an emphasis on action over words. Any changes that happen for the next year may seem sudden or a bit rash, but they were a long time coming. By the time Jupiter and Chiron are conjunct toward next March, there may be significant progress in areas where people, especially collectively, have felt wounded in some way. This could be either one country finally making apologies regarding past genocides that have happened, or a peace deal regarding a conflict that’s been ongoing. This could very well even be a leader stepping down from a position of power, to allow others more freedom.

Jupiter is in Aries from May 10th to October 28th, with a brief retrograde and dip back into Pisces later into the year. It’ll be in Aries once again from December 20th 2022 to May 16th 2023. For insight on how to make the best of it, read below for your sun, moon and rising. Deck used is the Steampunk Tarot.

Aries Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries First House)

Card: Four of Swords  — Element: Air

You’ll find luck by allowing yourself to take in each moment, rather than being always on the go. You probably spend a lot of time taking on other people’s burdens, and with the Four of Swords, there is a need to detach from certain situations. When looking at the card, the man is lying down with a sword at his side. Even though he looks relaxed, he still keeps a watchful eye, but right above near the window there is a crow watching over him. Know that you are protected, and that sometimes it’s necessary to be a bit selfish. Not everything is as urgent as it seems, and anyone who needs you to be productive 24/7 is benefiting from your unhappiness. This is a period that requires you to put your needs first, so that way you’ll be better equipped for battle later. Book a trip to the spa, go on a shopping spree, and most of all, remember to appreciate the little things.

For Aries rising, Jupiter will be transiting your first house of self. It’s safe to say this is your moment to shine. You spent the past year working on yourself and have transformed into a well-rounded, spiritual being. Now it’s time to share that wisdom with others. You may feel like a lion that’s just emerged from a long sleep, and you want to grab life by the horns. This is a beautiful thing, however you could be prone to accidents or overdoing it, and may have a mess to clean up later. The best way to channel this energy would be into a new health regime and a deeper focus on achieving your goals. Whatever the next year brings, it’s safe to say you’re in for a whole new life.

Taurus Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Twelfth House)

Card: Ace of Pentacles — Element: Earth

You’ll find luck by being open to opportunities to move in a different direction. This could be as simple as changing your routine. A job offer, lottery win, or even just the chance to network and put yourself out there is within reach, the question is whether you will take it. You’ve worked hard for this and people are starting to notice you, don’t shy away from any extra adoration. The Ace of Pentacles is here to remind you that stability is available, but to make the best of it, you need to achieve inner stability. You’re one of the few signs that can withstand any storm, and now here comes the rainbow. In the card, at the top there is a pentacle that’s more accessible, but in the background beyond a garden we see a pot of gold. The pot of gold represents your dream, while the pentacle is something more short-term. It’s up to you which one you choose, but either way, your dream is closer than you think. So choose wisely.

For Taurus rising, Jupiter will be transiting your twelfth house of spirituality and unconscious. This is a period where you feel like withdrawing from the world to focus on healing your inner child. If you’ve experienced an abusive situation or any situation where the odds where against you, trust that the universe has your back and the scales will balance out. You may feel restless and have more energy than usual, which can lead to trouble sleeping or anxiety. Take time to meditate and write, or better yet, you may be drawn to kickboxing and martial arts. Let your inner warrior shine through with bravery.

Gemini Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Eleventh House)

Card: Four of Pentacles — Element: Earth

You’ll find luck by saving resources and learning to be more frugal. You may come into contact with a potential loan or a chance to collaborate with someone. The Four of Pentacles comes up when we’re unwilling to open up to new opportunities out of fear of being taken for granted. On the flip side, it can also show someone who is a bit greedy, so maybe rather than being quick to judge, you’ll want to consider in what way you can better contribute to your community. Believe it or not, not everyone is out to get you. There are going to be people who will show that you are genuinely loved and supported, even if you don’t always feel that way.

For Gemini rising, Jupiter will be transiting your eleventh house of friends and social circles. This is an excellent transit to get out there and meet people. If you’re an artist or have a business, you may achieve some kind of fame or receive a chance to partner with like-minded folks who want the same goals as you. However, as much as you are in the mood to socialize, you may not enjoy the idea of collaborating. Don’t be afraid to take the lead in situations, but do be mindful that in order to achieve in a team, some compromise is still needed.

Cancer Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Tenth House)

Card: Page of Cups — Element: Water

You’ll find luck by opening your heart to people. The Page of Cups is often perceived as someone who is young and lacking experience, or it can simply show someone who is young at heart. There could be a lack of enthusiasm at being vulnerable, since Cancers are known for being a bit shy, but you’ll find that you like this side to yourself far more. In the background of the card there is an ocean, symbolizing all the things that you keep to yourself. While the cup this person is holding doesn’t seem like much, it is a step toward deeper connection, and that is a beautiful thing. Don’t underestimate what could happen by making the first move, be it with friends, family, and everyone that matters to you.

For Cancer rising, Jupiter will be transiting your tenth house of career and legacy. All eyes are on you and whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, depends on the choices you’ve made these past few years. Either way, the tenth house is where we have the Midheaven, the highest point of a natal chart, which means that everything you do this next year will have an impact on how you’ll be remembered. The good news is that you’ll be more charming than usual and the chance to rectify previous mistakes with grace. However, if there is someone you have conflict with, be sure to proceed with caution as this will have an impact on the way others see you. Because Aries also marks a new twelve-year cycle, it’s ideal to think long-term satisfaction over instant gratification.

Leo Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Ninth House)

Card: Three of Cups — Element: Water

You’ll find luck by celebrating all the beautiful things that you’ve accomplished. Even if this Jupiter transit makes you busier than usual, you still want to make time for socializing and a chance to meet others. The Three of Cups is a card of celebration and enjoying each other’s company. There may be a bit of competition, especially if you’re dating and have more than one person who wants to impress you. Nonetheless, you’re attractive so use that charm to your advantage, be it to win over that hottie you have your eye on, or snag that job position. When dating, make your intentions clear since not everyone you meet wants the same thing. Many people will want your attention, but to have the best relationships, it’s best to be discerning.

For Leo rising, Jupiter will be transiting your ninth house of travel and expansion. It’s safe to say you’re taking the initiative in your life and won’t tolerate any limitations. You’re here to break the glass ceiling and prove to others that anything is possible. If you’re single, you may meet someone special while travelling. However, if you’re already partnered, you and your boo may decide to elope out of the blue. Whatever happens, you’ll be busy attending parties, meet and greets and could even consider moving to another country.

Virgo Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Eighth House)

Card: Eight of Wands — Element: Fire

Beautiful things happen when you least expect, which means you’ll find luck by being open to spontaneity. That can sound tricky for Virgo, the sign that usually prefers to be in control, but every now and then, it’s good to let life surprise you. The Eight of Wands is synonymous with lightning, in that a romantic partner or career opportunity could come around in a way that completely shifts your expectations. You might have a dream that you gave up on, only to find that all it really took was the right timing. This could involve a chance with someone you’ve had your eye on for a long time, or a goal you’ve been pursuing since childhood. If this is a person, they could be an Aquarius or have a very eccentric fair to them that draws you in. Trust that whatever this is, it’ll happen when you least expect and it’ll excite you very much.

For Virgo rising, Jupiter will be transiting your eighth house of intimacy and income. The next year is going to by far one of the most memorable years, in a absolutely magical way, except you have to go out and make it happen. Things will be extra spicy in your romantic life regardless of your status. If you meet someone under this transit, the sex is expected to be out of this world and you’ll make sure to get all your needs met. You needn’t worry about any insecurities, as this person is a child at heart who will love you, flaws and all, and you could be surprised at how much you share together. If you really don’t want a partner, try to deepen the connection to your body with toys and lingerie. This is also an excellent time if you own a business, and just for money in general. People want to invest in you and see you grow. You could learn that a debt you owed has now cleared and find that your credit score is slowly improving. If you want to apply for grants, bursaries, or a mortgage, this is the transit to do just that!

Libra Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Seventh House)

Card: King of Pentacles — Element: Earth

You’ll find luck by taking more pride in your ambitions and setting out new goals for yourself. The King of Pentacles shows someone who is confident and well-accomplished and has the means necessary to live a great life. This card either represents you or the person you want to become. Believe it or not, you already are that person. You have everything that it takes to make magic happen and don’t have anything to prove to anyone. You might consider starting a business, or going into a work partnership with a friend or partner. Remember, a good majority of success in life is really just about showing up. If you already feel like you’ve done a lot, this transit also brings the opportunity to pay-it-forward in some way. You could be donating to charity or setting up a trust fund for your children if you have any.

For Libra rising, Jupiter will be transiting your seventh house of partnerships and open enemies. You want to connect with others and improve the relationships in your life. However, you’re also feeling extra feisty and confrontational, so people hopefully will know what they’re dealing with, or else. This is a good period to receive a settlement if there are any legal issues such as divorce or custody battle underway. You won’t stop until you win and you don’t care about opposition. On the flip side, if you’ve had issues standing up for yourself in the past, you’re now learning how to set healthy boundaries. Any relationships that are one-sided will lead to break ups, so for anyone who you do want in your life, make sure things are fair between you.

Scorpio Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Sixth House)

Card: Nine of Wands — Element: Fire

You’ll find luck by being patient with a goal that seems to be taking forever to accomplish, as now isn’t the time to give up. The Nine of Wands can feel burdened by responsibilities. Perhaps you’re aiming for a promotion or have your own business, and in order to maintain that sense of freedom, you’re required to take on extra shifts or do things you don’t like. Keep you eye on the prize, because sooner or later it will pay off. This transit is more about you making your own luck rather than waiting for luck to come to you. Another thing this card can represent is having to let go of something in order to move forward. If that’s the case, take it as a sign that you’re ready to move on. Scorpios are inclined to do everything by themselves, but you’d be amazed how many people want to support you. Give them a chance to do that.

For Scorpio rising, Jupiter will be transiting your sixth house of health, work and routine. You’re feeling a buzz of energy and motivation that you haven’t felt in a long time. However, you’re not exactly sure where to direct it, since Aries is known for wanting to do it all at once. The way to make the best of this energy is to discipline yourself and have a stable routine in check. As much as a routine might feel confining to you, trust that your future self will thank you for it. Any health issues should be resolved or improve around this, so continue having faith. You’d be surprised how much power you can have over your own healing.

Sagittarius Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Fifth House)

Card: The Tower  — Element: Fire

You’ll find luck after a situation has fallen apart. This may seem unexpected at first, but you knew change was coming. Whether it’s a break up, the end of a friendship, or being laid off from a job, it’ll be a blessing in disguise. Sometimes the Tower is necessary to remind us how powerful we are. Life could have been a bit routine as of late, and what kind of Sagittarius likes routine? Nah. You’ll come out of this realizing that you were going against your truth. Now that that energy is clearing, you’re free to build something that’s more authentic and in line with the vision you have for yourself. Where do you want to be in the next twelve years? The Tower wants to help you build that dream up.

For Sagittarius rising, Jupiter will be transiting your fifth house of romance and creativity. Depending on what you’re looking for romantically, you will either love this transit or be a bit frustrated by it. Jupiter in the fifth isn’t about commitment, this is more about reconsidering the type of partner you want through dating. If you already know what you want, the prospects you attract may be short-term or not that serious, which means you’re more likely to focus on self-love and less interested in other people. However, it’s good to increase romance between you and a current partner. Either way, you’re inspired to take the initiative and want to engage in good times. You want to party and live your best life. If you’re an artist, this transit will bring you a lot more ideas than usual, but you may risk abandoning a project before it takes off if results are longer than expected. Patience is key.

Capricorn Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Fourth House)

Card: Ten of Swords  — Element: Air

You’ll find luck by releasing resentments and grudges that have been weighing you down, so that you can now move forward onto more worldly concerns. The Ten of Swords represents an ending, but it doesn’t have to be an actual ending, it can be you putting your foot down, with a person or even just a mindset. Since air is communication, this card shows a need to let go of wanting to have the last word. People can only judge you from their perspective and there isn’t anything we can do aside from wish them the best. Those that belong in your life will support you no matter what, so the best thing you can do is speak your truth. Don’t dwell on the past anymore. New and healthier relationships are calling your name.

For Capricorn rising, Jupiter will be transiting your fourth house of home and family. During this time, you find joy is within your own four walls and may be thinking about expanding your family. Even if you don’t plan on kids, it’s likely that a sibling or cousin will be announcing a pregnancy very soon. You also feel the urge to invite people over and may want to renovate your home. An inheritance could come in unexpectedly on behalf of a relative. Just be sure to invest it properly, otherwise you can easily spend it as fast as you receive it. Luck is on your side if you’re signing a new lease or mortgage. Better yet, you may even decide to ditch a sedentary lifestyle and opt for travelling by RV for the next year.

Aquarius Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Third House)

Card: Eight of Pentacles — Element: Earth

You’ll find luck through putting in the work for whatever it is you want to achieve. There is a plan you’re putting into action, and the Eight of Pentacles shows that as long as you stick to a plan and remain consistent, success is yours. The person in the card holds up a pentacle with a concerned look on his face. He wants to share his ideas but doesn’t know whether others will be receptive. Even though Aquarius likes to be a rebel, sometimes you get too caught up in other people’s opinions. Just because someone doesn’t like your work, it doesn’t mean your ideas are bad. You have an idea that can impact the world in a magical way. The key to finding the right audience is to stay true to yourself and know that the people meant to collaborate with you, will show up at the right time.

For Aquarius rising, Jupiter will be transiting your third house of communications and community. You’re feeling chattier than usual and are buzzing with all kinds of bright ideas. If there have been any longstanding conflicts with your siblings or neighbors, than this is a period that brings about making amends and finding some type of common ground. If you’re a writer or musician, this is an ideal period to release a new project. You have a story in you that’s waiting to be told. Beyond that, you’re also expected to be quite busy, wanting to explore your community, either by going to festivals, to the movies or simply exploring areas you might have not explored before. Sometimes the greatest joys can be found in your own backyard.

Pisces Sun, Moon and Rising (Aries Second House)

Card: Three of Pentacles  — Element: Earth

You’ll find luck through collaborations and team work. You feel supported by the universe and people around and as though you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. The Three of Pentacles is here to remind you that you are always taken care of no matter how things look on the surface. Perhaps there is a goal you want to achieve, or you’re looking to expand a business and need to hire people. This is the right period to do so. If on the other hand, you don’t feel supported by others, it’s time to evaluate your relationships and seek out connections with like-minded folks who want the same things.

For Pisces rising, Jupiter will be transiting your second house of values and finances. You could land an investment important either for a business or some type of endeavor that allows you to increase your sense of security. You may be tempted to gamble or play the lottery and if you do, proceed with caution and place your wins in a savings account. Any financial woes that you have had recently should be deal with and you might even discover a brand new form of passive income that can increase your abundance without putting in too much work. Where your values are concerned, you’re determined to stand up for what you believe and would do well to use your voice in social justice causes.

    1. It’ll be making it easier to tune into your emotions and connect with women/mother figures. It’s also a good time for kids or just focusing on family in general
